Breeder Education Committee

Mary Miller
The Dalmatian Club of America Breeder’s Education Committee is dedicated to supporting individuals as they strive to produce and nurture future generations of our beloved breed. Our committee serves as a breed-specific resource. We are located across the United States, helping connect you with knowledgeable individuals in your area, who can provide guidance and tools to assist you.
Breeding a Dalmatian is a big commitment and should be approached thoughtfully. Prospective breeding dogs should be selected for their adherence to the breed standard, genetic merit, overall health, and their ability to positively contribute to the breed. We encourage all breeders to reference the Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) this is an easy-to-use centralized canine health database, jointly sponsored by the Orthopedic Foundation (OFA) outlining recommended health testing for Dalmatians.

A strong partnership with a veterinarian who understands and supports purpose-bred dogs is an essential part of a successful breeding program. If you have not yet established a relationship with a veterinarian experienced in reproductive health, we are glad to assist. The Society of Theriogenology (SFT) and the American College of Theriogenologist (ACT) provide searchable directories of board-certified veterinary reproductive specialists.
